On Friday 27th September 2013 all seventeen branches took part in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning and raised £3775.12 by offering breakfast to their customers for a donation to the charity. Earlier in the year RGB held a Golf Day where Nobby Stiles was the after dinner speaker. The raffle and auction at this event raised £3,000. Fundraising for Macmillan became even more poignant for the family owned firm, after the tragic loss of RGB Paignton branch manager Andy Shinner, to cancer.
Kevin Fenlon Chief Executive of RGB commented "Many people across the business had been affected after the tragic loss of Andy Shinner our Paignton Branch Manager to cancer at the end of July. Andy was a well-liked and respected colleague. Staff and customers wanted to do something to help raise money for this worthy cause as a mark of respect to Andy and his family. We are extremely grateful to everybody who supported this event"
Local Fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support Sian Ward-Edwards said 'We are so grateful to RGB and their customers for their continued support and so pleased with the fantastic amount they have raised this year. Macmillan is investing in new Macmillan Cancer Nurses to help people affected by cancer, but we are totally funded by donations and so support from local businesses like RGB is crucial.'
