Dartmoor snow: Can we have a gritter please? (Day 10 & Escape)

Not all roads in Okehampton are clear. I live on the estate near the rugby club and havent been able to get my "ordinary "car out since friday because the grit box is empty and the small council gritter hasnt been around. 4x4 are ok but the dustbin and recycling lorries couldnt get down to pick up today.

Sharon Cooper writes, "When we slid to Oke today I discovered that ALL the roads in Oke appeared to have grit on them, even the pavements had grit on them!! How come all we got up here was one JCB who just moved the snow around a bit? Why haven't we got any grit? The only way to get to Belstone is in a 4 x 4 or go like the clappers over the ice and compacted snow on the hill and pray you don't meet anyone coming the other way! (via Facebook)
