As the hunt for escaped rapist Eddie Braime - who lived in Okehampton some years ago - continues, worried local residents have set up a Facebook page to co-ordinate any information anyone may have. Nearly 500 people have already joined!

However, Devon & Cornwall Police told Okehampton People this morning (Thursday) that none of the possible sightings of Braime have been confirmed and they have no reason to believe he is in Devon, where he is both well-known and generally reviled.

As part of the police effort, the case will be featured on BBC's Crimewatch this Monday (BBC1 at 2100), in the hope that they can track down Braime, who considered to be dangerous.

If you believe you've seen him, do not approach him but dial 999. If you have any information you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
