Agatha Christie - Queen of Crime
Local historian John Risdon will be giving an illustrated talk about ‘The Queen of Crime’ and her connections with Devon: her childhood and early life in Victorian and Edwardian Torquay to her association with Greenway during her latter years.
The event, which takes place on Wednesday 17th March at 7pm promises to be a fascinating insight into one of the nation's favourite authors. After the talk visitors will have the opportunity to ask John questions and join him for refreshments.
Arguably the world's most famous mystery and crime writer, Agatha Christie was born in Torquay in 1890 and lived for many years in the area. She died in 1976 at the age of 85, leaving behind a legacy of locations associated not only with her life, but also the 80 crime novels, 19 plays, six romantic novels and two books of poems which she penned.
Tickets cost £2 and must been booked in advance as places are limited. You can book your place in person at the library or by phone on 01837 52805.
