A couple of weeks ago I was browsing through the social media when I came across a 'casting call' for film extras needed for shooting a movie on Dartmoor. I followed the link, and just for fun filled in the application form.

Spielberg's new film is based on the book by Devon author Michael Morpurgo
I was more than a little surprised when I received an e-mail asking me to go along to Princetown to see if I was suitable - but then even more surprised to read that this was - almost certainly - for Steven Spielburg's latest film, The Warhorse, which tells the story of a horse which was sent to the front during the First World War, and a boy’s efforts to bring him home.
The film is based on a book by Iddesleigh-based former children’s laureate Michael Morpurgo - and word is that the village, where he set part of the book, might also be used as a location.
An all-star mainly British cast has been selected, and filming is due to take place in August and September.
Should I be selected, watch this space for the inside story of working with one of the world's top directors.
