Fire appliances from Chagford, Moretonhampstead and Okehampton were called to Rushford Bridge - on the road from Chagford to Sandy Park, just before the swimming pool - soon after midnight (Mon) after it was reported that a man had fallen from the bridge into the River Teign.
They were joined by the Specialist Rescue Team from Camelshead and a Specialist Rescue Officer, and together they managed to rescue the man in a complicated operation involving the use of Safety at Height and confined space equipment, Water Rescue equipment, coresponder equipment, triple extension ladder, lighting, triple extension ladder and troll stretcher.
The casualty's condition is not known at present, and he has not been identified.
