FOODBANK URGENTLY NEEDS EXTRA SUPPLIES
By Kaybickley | Thursday, February 03, 2011, 17:18
For those living in the Okehampton area can I please ask you to consider donating food and supporting the Okehampton Food Bank. Due to the current crisis with Polestar and Wisemans they have been inundated for requests for food parcels and supplies are running low. Demand for food parcels is likely to increase substantially over the days and weeks to come. Food needs to be delivered to Andrew Marshall at OK Leisure, 34 Fore Street, Okehampton, EX20 1HB.

Ashburton Cookery School has raised some money to donate food to the Food Bank also supported by Dartmoor Food and Drink Association Farm Shop at Finlake. Please can you send us bank details so we can send it via BACS. Alternativel if you give us a list we can organise to order from our wholesalers and get the food sent in to you (thus saving 30%).
Also, please can you put out a news story that People 1st has given funding to Ashburton Cookery School to provide £650 of free training per person for up to 10 Women in Rural Enterprise in the Okehampton area. The Dartmoor Intermediate level cookery course runs for 1 week at Ashburton from 11 March. To qulify you need to be working in the community in your own food related business or are planning on starting up a food related business. in the near future. The course is available to view http://tinyurl.com/4j5bp8s Intermediate Cookery course. We hope this will enable women who have recently lost their jobs, or are in farming, to gain catering skills and potentially increase their income.
