Forget the gritters - Mother Nature will soon do the job, releasing hundreds of Okehampton and district residents who haven't been able to get out of their side road or village for the best part of a week.

And yes: the gritting teams have been doing an excellent job (see comment this morning) but Devon CC's policy of deliberately ignoring all but the main routes may make them look good nationally - but it has caused a great many problems all over what is essentially a rural community.
