Police in Tavistock are appealing for assistance from the public following a large scale theft of sheep on Dartmoor.
-
The missing sheep are black, scotch-faced ewes
Some three hundred and seventy sheep have been stolen from the Long Plantation, located at Holmingbeam near Princetown since March of this year.
The sheep are unusual enough that the general public may well have seen them being loaded into lorries as it would have taken a considerable amount of time to complete this.
They are black, scotch faced ewes with red markings on the back of their necks and on their backs.
Some of the flock have additional markings blue markings on their side.
It is unknown when the thefts took place, and enquires will be made nationally as it is likely that the sheep have been sold on.
Police ask that if anyone has any information in respect of this theft or know of the current whereabouts of the sheep to contact them on 08452 777444 quoting police reference JT/10/1089.
