I am very tired of the traffic congestion in the centre of the town. This seems to be caused by by the fact that the Supermarkets are all located in the town centre. I think a Supermarket located on the East side of the town would be beneficial. It would definitely reduce the congestion. Tesco's proposal to build a Supermarket in the Link Road is just what we need. It would encourage people who live out of the town to come. I personally go frequently to Launceston Tesco and while in Launceston I usually do my other shopping. If we get a Tesco Store, it would not only mean that people would visit Okehampton, but they would spend their money here too. It would also save a lot of money spent on petrol, travelling to Launceston.

I think that Tesco are looking long term with the number of houses planned past Chichacott, they would not build unless it was commercially viable.
My take on the congestion would be cheaper than the suggested link between Lodge Road and Macey's Terrace, I would make the foot bridge between School Way and North Street into a two way car only bridge, remove the stupid restriction at the junction of Northfied Road and North Street which prevents cars from North Road entering North Street and make cars at the junction of North Street and Fore Street turn left on East Street. Cars can then enter Mill Road for other parts of the town or even use Castle Road to bypass New Road.
