I think that it is time that the banks were made to become building societies instead of banks.....you don't hear of them paying vast disgusting sums of money to their directors and staff or, using the british tax payer for their gambling habbits knowing full well we would bail them out just so they can get their bonuses.

And it would seem that the banks are using their bank charges as a political tool to keep the money up the top and people subjucated and in debt...they are the true enimies of the people and of the state by taking money off of those who can least afford it.

These banks would do well to remember that the people have the power to move their money to building societies and that someone will soon open up a bank that takes the true proportionate amount for transactions, overdraughts, etc.... and leave them floundering with their greed.

I agree, snills - it's time the banks lost their power over us. It really winds me up that the banks and politicians caused all the porblems we've got - but are they suffering at all? No! They've passed all the pain on to the man in the street who had nothing wharsoever to do with the problem!

We live in a Capitalist system. The cornerstones are the Banks. Any financial problem we find ourselves in was caused by an inept Labour Government and their easy going Bank Regulation - basically there wasn't any.

The cornerstone of any Capitalist system are the People who bank rolled the banks namely.....the British People ....if it were not for the British People bailing out the banks the banks would have sunk along with their disgusting greed and would not be floating now on their fat bank bonuses, if it were not for the true cornerstone of the Capitalist System.... It's People!
