Police are urging agricultural premises to be alert following a spate of thefts. Barns were entered at a farm near Lewdown and a number of items was stolen.

Items included 6 Binatone ‘Terrain 650’ two way radios. They are black with a silver surround to the LCD display. Also stolen were two Stihl chain saws. One is model MS21 with a short blade (12 to 15 inches long) and may have the letters ‘SW’ scored into it by a soldering iron. The other is a larger MS 56 model with a blade of 20 to 24 inches. Another chainsaw – a Husqvarna with a 20 inch blade, was also stolen.

If anyone is aware of these items, please call 8452 777 44

Police are also reminding people that road grit is the property of West Devon Borough Council. Anyone removing bags of grit is committing a crime. Police are reminding people that taking the grit leaves other local people at risk of injury on the roads. Please report any suspicious behaviour to Tel 084452 777 444.

I thought that grit is there to be used as needed by local people. it is to be used for public roads, if you put it on your driveway or use it on your own property then it is stealing!
