If you're a West Devon resident, you can get advice about all sorts of money matters from the borough council, using a recently-announced service.
Here's what WDBC are offering, according to their press statement:
"Residents can now book an appointment to get free, independent and confidential money advice in West Devon. The service will provide guidance on everything from managing debt or mortgage/rent difficulties, to managing bills and maximising your income. Advisors can also help with tax credits and check you're applying for the right benefits.
The Money Advisor scheme is provided by local charity Homemaker South West in association with West Devon Borough Council's housing advice service.
Cllr Mandy Govier, Chair of West Devon Borough Council's Future Planning and Housing committee said: "In the current economic climate, this service is a valuable support for residents and a very positive addition to our housing advice service. I strongly encourage any West Devon residents with questions or concerns about money - especially if they are struggling with their rent or mortgage - to book an appointment at their earliest opportunity."
Qualified money advisors will be available for face to face appointments on Wednesdays between 9am and 1pm, and advisors can meet with residents at either the council offices at Kilworthy Park, Tavistock, or at 10 St. James Street, Okehampton.
If you would like to make an appointment or for more information about the Money advice service, please contact West Devon Borough Council's housing advice team on 01822 813600 or email housing@westdevon.gov.uk."
A good idea? Should such advice be available at Council Tax payers' expense? Have your say here on Okehampton People
