A horse had to be rescued using specialist lifting equipment early this morning (Oct 30) after it fell into a two-metre dyr ditch in Sticklepath, near Okehampton.
A specialist rescue team was called from Exeter, along with fire crews from Okehampton and Barnstaple, to help free the animal at around 8.50am today.
The thirty-five year old horse, which measured sixteen hands, was winched to safety using strops, small tools and a local telehandler.
The horse was checked over by a vet, but was not injured by its ordeal.
