Farmers invited to free business growth seminar

Farmers and agricultural businesses from across the South West are invited to a free seminar hosted by chartered accountancy firm Simpkins Edwards and Lloyds TSB Agriculture, focusing on growth plans and changes to businesses.

The event, which takes place at 7.30pm on Wednesday 20 February at the Waie Inn, Zeal Monachorum, Devon, will feature presentations from agricultural business specialist and farmer Mary Jane Campbell of Simpkins Edwards and David Fowller of Lloyds TSB Agriculture, who will be joined by guest speaker Mark Neason from Stags estate agents. They will cover topics including the tax implications of younger generations joining a business, securing business finance, occupying land and common agricultural policy reform. The session will be followed by light refreshments and an opportunity to speak one-on-one with the experts.

"We would encourage anybody involved in running a farm business to come along," said Mary Jane Campbell.  "The seminar has been designed to provide free advice on expanding agricultural businesses in what are undoubtedly challenging times. There will be plenty of practical guidance and we hope people will leave feeling armed with knowledge about the best way to go about expanding or changing their business."
